From the Committee
Welcome to all students, parents and friends. We are very proud to be in the position to lead the Hellenic Orthodox Community Schools. We bring to the role many years of experience teaching Modern Greek, extensive knowledge in curriculum writing and have accumulated a plethora of current teaching resources that are interesting, enjoyable and relevant to students. Our teachers will have the ability to access these resources electronically for their classes.
We will continue to focus on engaging our students in the four key elements of language learning. These are, speaking, reading and responding, listening and responding and writing.
Students coming to our centres are of parents who are second or third generation Greeks and some students are of mixed marriages also which means our lessons must cater for mixed ability students.
At different times in the year we offer students the ability to be immersed in Greek national events and be able to showcase their language skills in presentations to the general public.
Communication with parents is vital to keep them all updated and informed with what is happening with our school. To this extent, we have given a our website a fresh new look, reduced our carbon footprint by creating an online enrolment form and are embracing social media by having a facebook page where everyone can be informed of our latest developments.
We would like to wish everyone good health and happiness and may your year in learning Greek be a successful one.
Kind Regards,
Committee
