Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is divided into the four elements of language learning - Speaking, reading and responding, listening and responding and writing. Below is a summary which describes what we cover in each year of study.
Kindergarten - Year 1
These levels introduce the letters of the alphabet, one in each lesson, and easy common words and phrases.
Each level has a vocabulary of approximately 120 words.
Level One (Year 2)
1. The alphabet
2. The combination of vowels and consonants
3. The numbers 1-50
4. The greetings
5. The colours
6. The fruit
7. The day (morning, noon, afternoon, etc.)
8. The days
9. The family (father, mother, child, boy, girl, grand-father, grandmother)
10. The house (kitchen, bedroom, living room, dining room, and yard)
11. The school (teacher, book, notebook, classroom, etc.)
12. The body (eye, nose, ear, foot and hand)
13. Clothing (pants, shirt, blouse, skirt, jacket, socks and shoes)
14. Drinks (water, milk, orange juice, lemonade and chocolate)
15. Food (meat, cheese, chicken, rice, potato and tomato)
16. The animals (cat, dog and chicken)
17. Nature (sun, moon and stars)
18. Religious terms (God, Jesus Christ, Virgin Mary, church, cross, icon)
19. The auxiliary verbs “I am”, “I have”. only present tense
20. The present tense of the most common verbs, group 1 (eat, drink, read, write, run, play, learn, go, etc)
21. The present tense of the verbs, group 2 (love, hit, walk, etc)
22. The plural number of the neuters (child, children, book, books, lesson, lessons)
23. Adjectives and their three genders (good, big, small, beautiful, etc)
24. Short sentences and phrases for reading comprehension
25. A vocabulary of 300 common words
Conversational One (Year 3)
This reader contains short conversations, phrases and sentences based on the vocabulary and readings of the Level One book.
Level Two (Year 4)
1. All the subjects introduced in Level One are reintroduced in Level
Two in further detail and on a larger scale: the days, greetings, colours, family, food, drinks, fruit, etc.
2. Longer sentences for reading comprehension
3. Verbs of groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the present tense, singular and plural number
4. The auxiliary verbs “to be” and “to have”, in the present tense, singular and plural numbers
5. The impersonal verb “like”
6. Questions at the end of each lesson based on the text of the lesson
7. The plural number of feminine words ending in –α
8. The plural number of masculine nouns ending in –ας, -ης, -ος
9. The objective of neuter nouns in the singular number
10. Vocabulary of over 400 common words
Level Three (Year 5)
The first pages of all readers cover the following as a review:
The alphabet, the double vowels and consonants, the conjugation of the auxiliary verbs “I am, I have”, the conjugation of groups 1, 2 and 3 verbs in the present tense, the numbers 1-100 and the names of the days.
The lessons are longer and more complex.
They cover:

3. The children, the father, mother and grandparents
4. The school
5. An evening at the house and dinner
6. The OXI day
7. The family at church
8. A shopping day
9. A gift from Greece
10. Snow days
11. Christmas, gifts, carols and the Christmas tree
